Back in the mid 1980s, Nile Rogers of "Chic" released an album called "Adventures InThe Land Of The Good Groove."
I fell in love with this album!
I remember when my first wife, Lynn and I went to Kings Island along with her sister Barbara and her boyfriend Wendell, we played this cassette over and over and over again and never got tired of it.
It only has 8 songs (The title track, "Yum Yum", "Beet","Rock Bottom", "All In Your Hands", "Moist Down", and ""Get Her Crazy and "My Love Song For You". but all of them are excellent. I would have to say this is one of the best compilations of music I have ever heard in my life,
Trouble was, as I got older I eventually lost the cassette and it wasn't available for purchase in any form...
Until lately.
The MP3 versions of all the songs are now available on good 'ol amazon.com so I purchased the LP for only $6.99!
Are you kidding me???
You guys need to purchase this LP and you tell me what you think...
I am a fountain of musical knowledge and I am here to share my memories of my favorite thing...MUSIC!

Daddy Sang Baritone...
My Daddy (may he rest in peace) was a good man. He took care of us 6 kids after my Mom died at age 33...he worked various jobs to keep us fed and clothed...
The one thing he did for me personally, is that he introduced me to music.
I remember when I was around 8 years old...he would stick his head in our bedroom door and go "pep pep pep pep pep pep pep...boom boom boom boom boom..Get a Job..." in his "bass voice".
I apostrophized "bass" cause he always thought he was a bass, but he was actually a baritone.
That song was a snippet from the Silhouette's "Get A Job" and that and his favorite singer, Fats Domino have became two of my faves as well.
Now that I have all this music around me be it Cd's or video, it would be nice if he was here to share it with me...
but maybe he is,
As I was going to bed last night, I turned on the radio which is tuned to a country station and guess what song came on..."Daddy Sang Bass", by Johnny Cash,
I think Daddy was trying to tell me something.

Willie!...
Lately, Willie Nelson has become a strong influence in my house.
I pulled out my 3 CD-collection"Revolutions Of Time" and listened to tunes like "Old Friends", "In The Jailhouse Now", "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain"...
Excellent stuff.
I was so moved that I went to my vast (!)(?) music collection and procured my copy of his duet album with Ray Price, an excellent LP called "San Antonio Rose." Every song is phenomenal.
But I am not done...
I then whip out a 20th anniversary "Outlaw" CD that features Waylon and Willie and the Boys...er that is Jessi Colter. Excellence still rules.
After all that Willie-ness, I decided to start reading Willie's latest book, "Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die."
I will have a review soon.
What I have learned throughout this journey of Nelson is that this guy is truly a musical genius, his simple yet complicated method of playing guitar, his lyrics (just listen to "Seven Spanish Angels", with Brother Ray Charles...ooo-wee) outstanding,
Country music done the old school way is pretty incredible...
